Tech-Payments and NWACA Reno - Sparks Chapter Award First Annual Scholarship

Reno, NV — Tech-Payments and the Northwest Auto Care Alliance (NWACA) Reno - Sparks Chapter are thrilled to announce the first recipient of their annual scholarship for the Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) automotive services program. Elizabeth Kalayjian, who is pursuing an Automotive General Service Technician Certificate, has been awarded the scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The scholarship initiative is made possible through the generous contributions of Tech-Payments clients who are also members of the NWACA Reno - Sparks Chapter. Tech-Payments donates $250 annually on behalf of each participating member. This year, the combined efforts of American Auto Air & Repair, Greg’s Garage, Independent Specialists, and Nonstop Auto resulted in an initial donation of $1,000.

Elizabeth Kalayjian, a single mother balancing a demanding school schedule with limited work hours, expressed her gratitude for the scholarship, which will significantly reduce her financial burden. Living with another single mother, Elizabeth faces a high rent and limited income, making this scholarship a vital support system for her educational journey.

Elizabeth’s story is one of remarkable resilience and determination. Overcoming past struggles with addiction, she is now a dedicated student with a 3.7 GPA, passionate about her future in the automotive industry. Her long-term goals include opening a shop that provides trustworthy services, particularly for women and mothers, with a focus on affordability and safety.

"Half of vehicle owners on the road are women, many of whom feel intimidated by male-dominated shops or cannot afford necessary vehicle repairs. My goal is to create a space where women feel confident and secure," Elizabeth shared in her essay. She envisions a shop with a sliding scale payment plan to help low-income families maintain their vehicles, ensuring safety for all, especially those carrying children.

Tech-Payments and NWACA Reno - Sparks Chapter are proud to support Elizabeth’s journey and are confident that she will make a significant impact in the automotive industry.
